UCL: HAALAND TO FACE DORTMUND

Norwegian star ErlingHaaland is on course to face Borussia Dortmund since he left the club this summer after his Manchester City side and the Germans were drawn in the same group during the UEFA Champions League (UCL) draw held in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday.

Borussia Dortmund have been drawn with Premier League side Manchester City in Group G. The other two teams in Group G are Spanish team Sevilla and Danish champions FC Copenhagen.

Haaland left Borussia Dortmund for Manchester City this summer after the Premier League champions activated the release clause in his contract with the German Bundesliga giants. He had a £51m release clause in his Dortmund contract and it was activated thus paving the way for him to sign for City. Haalandis one of the best young players in world football, but he won’t be at the World Cup 2022 tournament after his country failed to qualify. Haaland would be one of the numerous big-name absentees at the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar. His country failed to qualify after finishing third in their World Cup 2022 qualifying group behind Turkey and leaders Netherlands in the UEFA section.

Norwegian striker Haaland has made a decent start to his career at City on the back of his transfer from Dortmund during the summer’s transfer window this year. He has scored three goals in three Premier League games and three goals in four games in all competitions. Haaland failed to find the back of the net as Manchester City were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool in the Community Shield this year. He scored twice in his first Premier League game for City on the way to a 2-0 away win over West Ham United on the opening weekend of the season earlier this month. The striker then failed to score during the 4-0 home win over newly promoted team Bournemouth in the next league game. In the latest league game, Haaland scored one of the City goals as they played out a 3-3 draw with hosts Newcastle United.
