QATAR 2022: BOLIVIA STUN PARAGUAY

The World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign is starting to take a definite shape at the various regions and the South Americans are not left behind. The round robin World Cup qualifying format adopted for the South American region is one of the most dynamic when it comes to the World Cup tournament.

For the latest round robin World Cup qualifying format ahead of the tournament in Qatar next year, Bolivia have been very impressive. The Bolivians would be hoping the current set of players can emulate the 1994 set by making it to the World Cup 2022 tournament. Bolivia have not qualified for a World Cup tournament since the 1994 edition in the United States of America (USA).Their latest game ended in their World Cup qualifying campaign turned out to be their most impressive thanks to the thumping 4-0 home win over Paraguay.

The big victory over Paraguay made it two wins on the trot for Bolivia. The run started with the slender 1-0 victory at home to Peru thanks to the late goal from Ramiro Vaca.

Rodrigo Ramallo began the floodgate of goals for Bolivia around the midway point of the first half. His goal was enough to give Bolivia an advantage at the end of the first 45 minutes. Moises Villaroel doubled the lead for the Bolivians eight minutes after restart before late goals from Victor Abrego and Roberto Fernandez made it a comprehensive scoreline in favour of the hosts Bolivia.

Bolivia have been very good in their last two World Cup 2022 qualifiers and that form has catapulted them into contention for a top-three place on the standings. The win over Paraguay took the Bolivians to twelve (12) points from the same number of games and to within five points of Ecuador in third place. The Bolivians are four points off both the fourth automatic World Cup spot held by Colombia and inter-confederations spot held by Uruguay with six games left.
