VAN DIJK GIVES MAJOR EUROS 2020 ANNOUNCEMENT

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has delivered a huge update about his fitness and the chances of featuring for the Netherlands at their upcoming tournaments and competitions. The towering defender has been a huge miss for his club this season after picking up a severe injury that ruined his season earlier in the year. After colluding with Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford in the first Merseyside derby of the season, he was taken off the pitch and could not continue.

Since then, the Reds defender has not retired to the pitch and has been working on his rehabilitation process to continue working his way back to full fitness. The former Southampton defender has been working with his physio on making a comeback from his injury and even though he has continued to make progress, he has made an announced that fans would be very concerned about.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Van Dijk said he would not be linking up with his country’s national team at the forthcoming Euros 2020 tournament, an announcement that will come as a huge blow to the Oranje team. The defender said the competition will come too early for him and he won’t be fit on time to join the squad at their camp.

He continued by saying that he will be making a return from his injury by joining his fellow club colleagues dueling their pre-season games to further bolster his chances of returning to full fitness.

Everyone at the Netherlands national team will be hoping that one of their star players recovers and regains full fitness ahead of their FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar next year as they will be needing all of the best players they can get for the prestigious tournament. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp also backed the defender’s decision and said it was the right choice.
