ROAD TO SOUTH AFRICA Part 6
Following a sixteen month Qualifying journey, the US Men’s Nationwide Team’s street to South Africa made its last cease in Washington DC for the closing qualifier against Costa Rica. For numerous Supporters, this was their previous likelihood to see the Yanks play a meaningful game ahead of the 2010 World Cup. Whilst the US had currently clinched its berth in South Africa, Costa Rica and Honduras both needed a result to seize the 3rd and final spot to stay away from a matchup with the 5th spot group from CONMEBOL. What transpired on this day was a single of the most memorable finishes to CONCACAF Qualifying of all time.

You should have seen the gan support in Japan/Korea in 2002 and in Germany 2006. The game against Germany for example in the quarter finals in 2002 drew about 20,000 American fans. Same with the game against Italy in 2006 and others (This year against England). You can search for videos on youtube under: “US national anthem World Cup”.
